About the Event

In this Wednesday evening webinar hosted by the Southern California Genealogical Society, Cheri Hudson Passey shares how probate records can provide information on your ancestors even when there's no will. Learn how to use these records, find clues, and help answer your research questions.

Cheri is a professional genealogist, instructor, writer, speaker, and Carolina Girl Genealogy, LLC owner. She hosts the genealogy chat show GenFriends and is a genealogical researcher subcontracted by Eagle Investigative Services, Inc., for the United States Army Past Conflict Repatriations Branch. Cheri has been researching her family and helping others start their research since the early 1980s. Born in Camden, South Carolina, her ancestors have been in the state for many generations. She is truly a "Carolina Girl".  A love of history and genealogy has grown into a passion for researching names, dates, and places and adding flesh on the bones with family pictures, stories, and ephemera.

Cheri is a member of a team of genealogical researchers for the U.S. Army in their effort to repatriate Soldiers who have been listed as Killed in Action. By using her skills to locate next of kin, it is hoped identification through DNA testing will occur when remains are discovered, and our war heroes can return home to their families.
